Penalties land later

Under 19 U.S.C. § 1592, CBP can penalize negligent entries — up to twice the lost duties — long after the goods are released.

Mismatches slip through

A packing list that says 418 cartons while the invoice says 420. A B/L weight with two digits swapped. An EU tariff code on a US entry.

Hours of keying

Entry writers retype weights, values, HTS numbers and MIDs from PDFs and Excel files into CargoWise, line by line.

From the shipper's email to a clean entry

1

Forward, drop or scan

Forward the shipper's email to your FreightProof address, or drag in PDFs, TIFF scans, Excel files and phone photos of paper documents.

2

3-way match and CBP audit

Every page is read and classified, every line matched. Deterministic rules and an AI customs reviewer flag what does not agree — in red.

3

Verify and push

Check each flag beside the original PDF, fix values in place, send the drafted correction email, and push the shipment to CargoWise.

See exactly where every number came from.

The verification screen puts the original document beside the data. Each conflicting value is boxed in red on the page. Fix a number in place and every check re-runs instantly.

What FreightProof checks on every shipment

Deterministic rules for what must match exactly, and an AI customs reviewer for what needs judgement.

3-way match, line by line

Commercial invoice, packing list and MBL/HBL matched across languages: quantities, cartons, net and gross weight, values.

HTSUS validator

Every tariff number checked against the current USITC schedule — 10-digit, units of quantity, general rate — with the right candidates when it is wrong.

Section 301, 232 and AD/CVD

Chinese origin, steel and aluminum, and product families under antidumping orders are flagged before the entry goes out.

MID builder

Manufacturer IDs built from the invoice per 19 CFR Part 102, ready for CBP Form 7501.

Container and seal numbers

ISO 6346 check digits catch the typo before the carrier's manifest and your entry disagree.

Parties and importer of record

"Supply Inc." on the invoice and "Supplies LLC" on the B/L are two companies to CBP. IOR numbers checked too.

Invoice arithmetic and Incoterms

Quantity × price, totals, freight on FOB invoices, US and European number formats.

ISF and missing data

Seller, buyer, manufacturer, stuffing location and consolidator gaps for the 10+2 filing.

Questions brokers ask

+Does FreightProof file entries with CBP?

No. It prepares and verifies. Your licensed customs broker still files through ACE with your usual software. FreightProof makes sure what you file matches the paperwork.

+Does it work with CargoWise, Magaya or Descartes?

Yes. Each verified shipment exports as CargoWise eAdaptor Universal Shipment XML (checked against CargoWise's published schema), and as CSV and Excel files you can map into Magaya, Descartes or any other system.

+Which documents can it read?

Commercial and proforma invoices, packing lists (including Excel files), master and house bills of lading, sea and air waybills, arrival notices, CBP 7501 and 3461, certificates of origin — PDFs, TIFF scans and phone photos, several documents per file, in any language.

+How does the inbox work?

Each workspace gets its own forwarding address. Forward the shipper's email — or set an automatic rule — and every attachment is checked. You get the result by email in about two minutes.

+How accurate is it?

The cross-checks (weights, quantities, check digits, arithmetic, HTSUS validity) are deterministic. The AI review adds judgement on classification and risk. You stay in control: every issue shows the conflicting values, highlighted in the original PDF, and you correct, resolve or ignore it.

+Is our data used to train AI?

No. Documents are read through Anthropic's commercial API, which does not train models on customer data. Original files are stored encrypted in Google Cloud, and deleting a shipment deletes its files.

+How does the free trial work?

Every new workspace gets 10 free shipment checks, no card needed. When you need more, start a 14-day free trial of any paid plan with up to 50 checks. Cancel before it ends and you pay nothing.

+Is it only for US imports?

No. The same checks run for EU and UK shipments, with an EU export laid out by customs data element. US entries get the extra HTSUS, MID and trade-remedy checks.

Check your next shipment before you file it.
